“Goldman Sachs wasn’t alone either in its astute “foreknowledge” of the collapse of BP’s stock value due to the Gulf disaster as BP’s own chief executive, Tony Hayward, sold about one-third of his shares weeks before this catastrophe began unfolding too.
But according to this FSB report the largest seller of BP stock in the weeks before this disaster occurred was the American investment company known as Vanguard who through two of their financial arms (Vanguard Windsor II Investor and Vanguard Windsor Investor) unloaded over 1.5 million shares of BP stock saving their investors hundreds of millions of dollars, chief among them President Obama.
For though little known by the American people, their President Obama holds all of his wealth in just two Vanguard funds, Vanguard 500 Index Fund where he has 3 accounts and the Vanguard FTSE Social Index Fund where he holds another 3 accounts, all six of which the FSB estimates will earn Obama nearly $8.5 million a year and which over 10 years will equal the staggering sum of $85 million.
The FSB further estimates in this report that through Obama’s 3 accounts in the Vanguard 500 Index Fund he stands to make another $100 million over the next 10 years as their largest stock holding is in the energy giant Exxon Mobil they believe will eventually acquire BP and all of their assets for what will be essentially a “rock bottom” price and which very predictably BP has hired Goldman Sachs to advise them on.
Important to note is that none of this wealth Obama, Goldman Sachs, and other American elites is acquiring would be possible without this disaster, all of whom, as the evidence shows, “somehow” knew what was going to happen before it actually did, including the US energy giant Halliburton who 2 weeks prior to this disaster just happened to purchase the World’s largest oil disaster service company Boots & Coots”.

Despite the growing evidence against it, the theory of global warming has been the reason for large international summits in recent years, namely one that was just held in Copenhagen late last December.

AMY GOODMAN: Actually, I want to start where you—descriptions and analysis you gave in your previous books and it has to do with BP. Before we get to Turkey and Iran and Israel currently, I wanted to go back in time. President Obama has gone down to Mississippi, and he’s going to be in the Gulf Coast for a few days. But there’s very little discussed about BP’s history, and I’m wondering if you could start with us there.
STEPHEN KINZER: The history of the company we now call BP over the last hundred years has really traced the arc of global transnational capitalism. This company began as a kind of a wildcatting operation in Iran back in the first decade of the twentieth century. It was very entrepreneurial and risk-taking, and they had a bunch of geologists running around in these very forbidding steppes and deserts, and finally they struck what was the greatest find up to that time in the history of the oil industry. They were the ones who discovered that Iran was sitting on an ocean of oil. And then they decided they would take it. Under a corrupt deal that they had struck with a few representatives of the old declining Iranian monarchy, all of whom had been paid off by the company, this concession, which later became known as the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, guaranteed itself, or won the right to own, all of Iran’s oil. So, nobody in Iran had any right to drill for oil or extract oil or sell oil.
Then, soon after that find was made, the British government decided to buy the company. So the Parliament passed a law and bought 51 percent of that company. And all during the 1920s and 1930s and 1940s, the entire standard of living that people in England enjoyed was supported by oil from Iran. All the trucks and jeeps in Britain were being run on Iranian oil. Factories all over Britain were being funded by oil from Iran. The Royal Navy, which projected British power all over the world, was run 100 percent on oil from Iran. So that became a fundamental foundation of British life.
Any questions about why President Barry is acting like a tamed minion of BP should be cleared up by the knowledge that BP is a subsidiary of the international band of gangsters that operate out of London.
The Rothschild’s have been behind many wars, financing both sides and raking in profits from misery, death and destruction. Profits which compound when they finance the rebuilding of the countries they helped destroy.

In the weeks since BP’s Deepwater Horizon well started spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, there’s been increasing attention to the “cozy” relationship between the Minerals Management Service (MMS) and the oil industry it’s supposed to regulate. How cozy? Just last summer the Obama administration tapped a BP executive to serve as a deputy administrator for land and minerals management.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar last June appointed Sylvia V. Baca to the post, which did not require Senate confirmation. The appointment follows eight years at BP.

BP chief Tony Hayward sold shares weeks before oil spill
The chief executive of BP sold £1.4 million of his shares in the fuel giant weeks before the Gulf of Mexico oil spill caused its value to collapse.

Tony Hayward cashed in about a third of his holding in the company one month before a well on the Deepwater Horizon rig burst, causing an environmental disaster
Mr Hayward, whose pay package is £4 million a year, then paid off the mortgage on his family’s mansion in Kent, which is estimated to be valued at more than £1.2 million.
There is no suggestion that he acted improperly or had prior knowledge that the company was to face the biggest setback in its history.
His decision, however, means he avoided losing more than £423,000 when BP’s share price plunged after the oil spill began six weeks ago.
Since he disposed of 223,288 shares on March 17, the company’s share price has fallen by 30 per cent. About £40 billion has been wiped off its total value. The fall has caused pain not just for BP shareholders, but also for millions of company pension funds and small investors who have money held in tracker funds.
The spill, which has still not been stemmed, has caused a serious environmental crisis and is estimated to cost BP up to £40 billion to clean up.
There was growing confidence yesterday that a new cap placed over the well was stemming the oil flow. An estimated three million litres a day had been pouring into the sea off the coast of Louisiana since the April 20 explosion, damaging marine life.
The crisis has enraged US politicians, with President Obama yesterday forced to cancel a trip to Indonesia amid a row over the White House’s response.
Mr Hayward, whose position is thought to be under threat, risked further fury by continuing plans to pay out a dividend to investors next month.

Goldman Sachs sold $250 million of BP stock before spill

Firm’s stock sale nearly twice as large as any other institution; Represented 44 percent of total BP investment
The brokerage firm that’s faced the most scrutiny from regulators in the past year over the shorting of mortgage related securities seems to have had good timing when it came to something else: the stock of British oil giant BP.
According to regulatory filings, RawStory.com has found that Goldman Sachs sold 4,680,822 shares of BP in the first quarter of 2010. Goldman’s sales were the largest of any firm during that time. Goldman would have pocketed slightly more than $266 million if their holdings were sold at the average price of BP’s stock during the quarter.
If Goldman had sold these shares today, their investment would have lost 36 percent its value, or $96 million. The share sales represented 44 percent of Goldman’s holdings — meaning that Goldman’s remaining holdings have still lost tens of millions in value.
The sale and its size itself isn’t unusual for a large asset management firm. Wall Street brokerages routinely buy and sell huge blocks of shares for themselves and their clients. In light of a recent SEC lawsuit arguing that Goldman kept information about a product they sold from their clients, however, the stock sale may raise fresh concern among Goldman’s critics. Goldman is also a frequent target of liberals and journalists, including Rolling Stone‘s Matt Taibbi, who famously dubbed the firm a “vampire squid.”
Two calls placed to Goldman Sachs’ media office in New York Wednesday morning after US markets opened were not immediately returned, though Raw Story decided to publish the story quickly after the calls since the stock sale had been already noted online.

Other asset management firms also sold huge blocks of BP stock in the first quarter — but their sales were a fraction of Goldman’s. Wachovia, which is owned by Wells Fargo, sold 2,667,419 shares; UBS, the Swiss bank, sold 2,125,566 shares.
Wachovia and UBS also sold much larger percentages of their BP stock, at 98 percently and 97 percent respectively.
Wachova parent Wells Fargo, however, bought 2.3 million shares in the quarter, largely discounting Wachovia’s sales.
Those reported buying BP’s stock included Wellington Management, a large asset firm, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
BP is struggling to cap a massive oil leak at one of its drill sites in the Gulf of Mexico. The firm’s myriad safety violations over the years have come to light in lieu of the Gulf disaster.
BP traded on average at $56.86 in the first quarter, according to GuruFocus, a site that monitors the major trading moves of prominent investors. A list of major institutions’ sales of BP stock are available at the market research website Morningstar.
It’s certainly unknown as to why the firms sold their holdings. In its analysis of the company in mid-March, Morningstar, the market research site, gave the company an average rating of three out of a possible five stars.
“BP’s valuation carries more uncertainty than ExxonMobil’s or Shell’s because the firm is less integrated, with more of its earnings coming from the [exploration and production] business than from potentially offsetting refining operations,” the site’s analyst wrote. “Like its peers, a sustained drop in oil and gas prices can hurt upstream earnings. Lower crude-oil feedstock costs could help refining margins, but refined product pricing lags could quickly swing refining profits to losses. BP’s global business faces potential disruptions caused by political risks, particularly with its heavy exposure to Russia. Disruptions caused by environmental and operational constraints could further limit earnings potential.”
The transnational oil company, like other energy giants, was hit with lower oil and gas prices in the past year after the price of oil surged in 2008.
“BP’s fourth quarter marked another quarter of year-over-year production gains, with a 3% increase thanks to new field startups,” Morningstar’s analyst wrote in another note, after BP turned in better than expected fourth quarter results in February. “BP reported fourth-quarter replacement cost profit of $3.4 billion, up 33% from year-ago earnings of $2.6 billion, as upstream earnings growth was more than enough to offset downstream weakness. For the full year, BP’s earnings of $14 billion were 45% below year-ago earnings of $26 billion, in part because of lower oil prices earlier in the year. We’re encouraged by BP’s sequential earnings gains as new projects and cost-cutting efforts drive upstream results.”
The SEC filed a civil lawsuit against Goldman Sachs and one of its vice presidents in April, asserting that the firm had committed fraud by misrepresenting a mortgage-investment product inherently designed to fail. The company helped a hedge fund trader create a mortgage investment that gained value as mortgage borrowers defaulted en masse.
In response, Goldman said the SEC’s charges were “completely unfounded in law and fact†and averred that it would “vigorously contest them and defend the firm and its reputation.â€Â
The firm has also faced criticism over giant bonuses paid to staff amidst the US financial crisis. Goldman reduced the sizes of its staff bonuses this year to $16.9 billion, and said it would pay its chief executive $9 million, far less than the previous year.
Goldman also announced it would create a $500 million program to help small businesses. Critics noted that the figure represented just 3% of the bonus pool.

One can only ask: was a micro-nuclear device used at the base of the Twin Towers as well? That kind of small, but nuclear, explosion would account for the sudden manner the reinforced concrete and steel shell simply crumbled into dust as it fell. Lawmakers sold off BP shares

Members of the congressional committees that oversee the oil and gas industry held more than $11 million in personal financial assets in that sector late last year, including at least $400,000 in the two companies at the heart of the Gulf of Mexico oil-drilling disaster.
From the nearly $100,000 in BP stock held by Rep. Frederick Upton (R-Mich.) to the nearly $650,000 in ConocoPhillips shares held by Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), lawmakers on five key panels with oversight of the oil industry held more than 110 assets in firms from that sector.
All told, the members of the five House and Senate committees had a minimum of $11.4 million in stock holdings in the oil and gas industry, with a maximum value that could have exceed $16.8 million, according to an analysis of financial disclosure forms released Wednesday.
Before the Gulf disaster, some lawmakers sold off shares in the companies at the center of the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill for personal financial reasons. Among them was Kerry, whose wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, sold off the last remaining shares she held in Transocean, the company that owned the drilling rig.
At the end of 2009, however, Heinz family trusts still held between $350,000 and $750,000 in BP stock, coming in purchases last year.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) also bought as much as $50,000 worth of stock in the British oil giant, which owned the well which has been spewing oil since the April 20 explosion off the Louisiana coastline.
Wednesday served as financial-disclosure day on Capitol Hill, the one day of the year when the media and government watchdogs get a glimpse into the personal assets and transactions of members of Congress. The lawmakers must show the value of their assets on Dec. 31 of the previous year, as well as any gifts received and financial transactions they took the year before. Federal laws only require members of Congress to provide a range of values for assets, and some ranged as widely as between $1 million and $5 million.
Critics, including some members of Congress, have requested that lawmakers reveal their finances more regularly and with more detail, in order to prevent any appearance of conflict of interest between their financial holdings and their legislative portfolio.
Kerry — who is serving as the Senate Democrat’s lead negotiator on energy legislation — has at least $6 million in financial assets from a dozen big oil and gas companies, including household names such as Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil, BP and ConocoPhillips. The senator defended his family’s financial holdings, saying his wife’s trusts from her first husband’s ketchup fortune would not deter him from taking on the oil industry.
“Senator Kerry has been the Senate’s best environmental champion for more than 25 years and has written and urged legislation to end our dependence on foreign oil. Inherited holdings in family trusts he has no control over whatsoever clearly have no impact on his fight for a green economy and a clean environment,” Whitney Smith, Kerry’s spokeswoman, said in a statement.
Sen. Christopher Bond (R-Mo.), who in 2008 held between $1,000 and $15,000 in Transocean shares, sold off all of his holdings in that company in February 2009, the disclosure forms show.
Overall, some lawmakers saw their energy holdings grow. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a longtime promoter of alternative-energy legislation, saw her investment in Clean Energy Fuels — billing itself as North America’s largest provider of natural gas for motor vehicles — grow from a minimum of $15,000 to a minimum of $50,000 by the end of 2009.
That investment represents a small sliver of the speaker’s financial portfolio, which is run by her husband, investor Paul Pelosi, whose primary holdings consist of real estate — including a Napa vineyard that continues to be valued at between $5 million and $25 million.

The horrible disaster in the Gulf of Mexico grows more and more dreadful each passing day as up to 100,000 barrels of black goo shoot up like a pluming rocket, straight up out of the fiery bowels of the sea floor. But even as the residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the other Gulf states become drenched in black misery, across the globe a small clique of super-rich plutocrats are enjoying a diametrically opposite reaction. In fact, these calculating agents of deceit are celebrating the BP disaster with unmatched, gleeful joy. Their outrageous scheme has worked to perfection, and their bank accounts already show forth the astonishing success of their little sub-oceanic endeavor.
I’m referring to Rothschild and to his cohorts in crime, the freshly minted billionaire oil oligarchs of Israel and the surprisingly capitalistic new oil barons of Communist Red China.
Never in human history have so few profited so immensely while pulling the wool over the eyes of the ignorant, suffering masses.
Now, it may take a little doing for me to explain the incredible, dark reality of what has just happened to the people of America and to the nations of the world, but let me attempt to do just that in the succeeding brief paragraphs. Your Future is at Stake
Why are these things important to you? Well, for one thing, your economic future depends on the price of oil. Oil, let us admit, fuels the world. Two years ago I released a bombshell intelligence report entitled Planet Petroleum (Available on Tape or CD). Remember it? At that time, Wall Street and the White House were telling us that oil was a rapidly declining resource and in a few more decades none would be left. The price per barrel, the “experts” told us, would be $250 within a few brief months. I further reported that in the United States, in the Bakken oil formation in the Dakotas and Montana, geologists had discovered more oil than exists in the entire Middle East. And—get this—I documented that there is more oil stored nearby in the Gulf of Mexico than had heretofore been discovered by oil drillers throughout the world in all the annals of human history.
My Prediction Comes True
What’s more, I revealed that the $140+ price of oil was a scam, boosted artificially by Wall Street bankers (Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs), and I told anyone who would listen that the outrageous high price would soon come tumbling down!
Guess what? It did exactly that. Within the year the price per barrel had plummeted from its $147 peak to only $32 per barrel. The price now sits at or about $78.
In other words, the U.S.A. has more oil available on this continent than all the rest of the world’s nations combined. There is no reason—none, none, none—for us to buy even one single barrel from some foreign potentate in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Venezuela.
Every American Citizen is Fabulously Rich!
Can you imagine what this means for our economic fortune? Each of us—you and I and our kids and grandchildren—are rich, rich beyond belief.
A conservative estimate of our oil wealth would be that every man, woman, and child alive in the 50 American states is worth a minimum of Five Million Dollars. Each of us is joint heir of this nation’s massive deposits of black gold sitting unused underground on publicly-owned land and under our coastal waters. Think of it—we are all rich and no one, except the greedy elite—suspects it. The people are kept in total, abject stupidity.
Instead, from the early days of Rockefeller’s Standard Oil monopoly to today, we have been lied to and tricked into believing that oil is a rare, dwindling resource and that America must turn its eyes overseas to find sufficient energy to meet even our basic needs. What an outrageous lie we have all been fed.
The Gulf Oil Disaster A Criminal Act
Now let me explain to you the main points of what has happened in the Gulf of Mexico and in the decade leading up to this horrible tragedy.

Iraqi Oil “Laundered” by Israel and China
In effect, Rothschild and Israel are laundering Iraqi oil through China, stealing it from the Iraqi people, thanks to America’s military occupation of that oppressed country. This is no different than the wealthy Jews (the Oppenheimers) who grabbed and now own South Africa’s diamond mines and pay off Johannesburg black African politicians with puny kickbacks.
It is no different than the American corporations that strip the forests of Malaysia, then ship and sell lumber across the globe, or the foreign cartels that mine copper, tin, palladium, and gold in Indonesia and Africa and market it to the rich across the seas.
What is significant, in this instance, is that the American people and economy are intentionally stymied and stiffed by these oil shenanigans. The bogus environmental movement is accelerated and gains momentum. We, the people, are kept confined to an economic straitjacket, our plentiful oil resources left untapped, while Rothschild and his Jewish oligarchs, along with Red China’s Communist tyrants, reap the treasure of Iraqi and other foreign oil. Obama’s role, of course, is to supply the military and diplomatic muscle of the United States to keep this massive criminal operation flowing. Again, this is the Illuminist doctrine of Ordo Ab Chao, which translates into trillions for the (Jewish) bankers, pennies for the people.
Meanwhile, our once pristine beaches, coastal lands and waters are besotted with unsightly petroleum toxins that are killing both plant and sea life.
Under the circumstances, BP’s relatively puny $20 billion Gulf coast cleanup fund is a joke. To Rothschild, Israel and China, $20 billion is mere chump change.

BP is attempting to claw in $80billion with two lawsuits issued on the anniversary of the Gulf of Mexico rig explosion that killed 11 workers and spewed millions of barrels of oil into the sea.
The oil giant has filed for £42b in damages from Halliburton, the company which cemented the oil well that caused the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
BP claims Halliburton concealed critical information which could have prevented the disaster. It is claiming a similar sum from Transocean, which owned the rig.

Analysts say BP has little chance of winning the cases and was more likely trying to force the companies to into an out of court settlement.
But the litigation may prove damaging for BP because the court hearings could reveal yet more embarrassing details of the way the disaster was handled.
‘It’s got a fairly low chance of being successful,’ said one analyst who declined to be named because of the legal sensitivities around the case.
‘I get the feeling that there is positioning going on here for a settlement.’

According to the BBC, “Halliburton denied this, saying the claims were ‘without merit.’ ” And, the BBC adds, Halliburton “also accused BP of fraud and defamation in the investigation.” [11] The viability of the cement used to isolate oil and gas at BP’s Macondo well has emerged as a major issue in investigations into the Deepwater Horizon disaster. “Halliburton has steadfastly refused to provide these critical testing and modeling results in discovery. According to BP, Morgan testified that during tests the slurry mixture separated, instead of foaming as designed, and looked “thin” to him, an indicator of potential instability. Morgan said he didn’t take notes of the tests and dumped out his samples partly because he feared the results could be harmful to the company in court, BP said. [10]
BP is asking U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier to sanction Halliburton for the slurry results, and bring in forensic experts to find the missing computer data. In Monday’s filing, BP said Halliburton has “steadfastly refused” to provide key testing and modeling results that could shed light on the dispute. [24] Halliburton has raised two primary defenses against allegations it shares blame for the blowout, BP said in the filing. The contractor maintains its foaming cement formula was stable and performed as designed, BP said. At the height of the crisis in June, 37 percent of Gulf waters, or 88,552 square miles, were closed to fishing due to contamination. Shares of BP closed at $43.57 on Monday, shares of Halliburton finished at $37.02 and Transocean ended at $45.01, all well off their 52-week highs. [18] The report “incorrectly attributes the operation decisions to Halliburton,” said Zelma Branch, a Halliburton spokeswoman. “Every contributing cause where Halliburton is named, the operational responsibility lies solely with BP. After the accident, Halliburton carried out tests on the batch of cement slurry that had been used on the well, and also did computer simulations of how the cement would have performed. [7] At issue is the cement slurry Halliburton used to case the Macondo well in a failed attempt to keep hydrocarbons from channeling up the well and into the riser. [24]
Halliburton has argued that the cement mix it prepared and applied at the site was stable, which would allow it to adequately coat the outer edges of the Macondo well and keep oil and gas from surging to the ocean surface. [1]
Federal and independent investigations of the disaster have found fault in Halliburton’s cement job because it failed to properly plug the well. [3] Halliburton in September sued BP for defamation and for providing inaccurate information before the cementing job in the well. [15]
“The Deepwater Horizon accident was the result of multiple causes, involving multiple parties, including Transocean and Halliburton,” Scott Dean said. “BP (has) acknowledged its role in the accident and has taken concrete steps to further enhance safety. We continue to encourage other parties to acknowledge their roles in the accident and make changes to help prevent similar accidents in the future.” [22] Three companies, BP PLC and contractors, Halliburton and Transocean Ltd. have been sparring over blame for the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon blast. [12]
The Deepwater Horizon accident cost BP $41.3 billion in clean up, compensation and other costs, in addition to indirect adverse economic effects of reputational damage and lost customer confidence. [27]
The first trial over the Deepwater Horizon disaster is due to start on February 27 in New Orleans. [2] Current law requires the money to go to a federal fund to clean up future oil spills. The strategy “should make crystal clear that there are not only benefits of fulfilling these goals, but the immense national costs should they fail,” Mark Davis, director of the Tulane Institute on Water Resources Law and Policy in New Orleans, wrote to the task force in response to an earlier draft. [35] BP could be fined billions of dollars for the 2010 oil spill that hurt gulf coast businesses. [39] LONDON (SHARECAST) – The legal battle over last year’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is turning increasingly bitter. [20] “Unfortunately it took the oil spill to kind of make the focus on the gulf, and how important the Gulf of Mexico is, really to the five states along it. [36]
The explosion in April 2010 killed 11 people and the subsequent spill dumped millions of barrels of oil into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. [9] The April 20, 2010, explosion in the rig killed 11 people and injured 16 others working on the rig, as well as releasing 206 million gallons of crude oil in to the Gulf of Mexico. [19]
The BP oil disaster may have done one good thing by focusing attention on the Gulf of Mexico. [40]
At most that number should be 1 in 9 or even in 1 in 20 deaths of baby tuna, and that’s only the effect on one year for the long-lived tuna. Those smaller figures are based on larval surveys that have not been released publicly because of a potential court case with BP over damages from the spill, and more simulations “that are conditioned on real data,” Porch said. Porch said it’s unlikely that the effect on tuna stock would hit 4 percent and “it is not an additional major source of stress” on the overall population of the bluefin tuna in the Gulf. Other work on baby tuna health will be published in peer reviewed science journals. That’s only the young. [34] The accusation, in a BP court filing, comes ahead of a trial, expected in February, to assign blame and damages for the April 2010 Macondo spill. [41] The company has already reached settlements with Anadarko Petroleum Corp, Mitsui & Co, and Weatherford International Ltd. BP is slated to begin its trial for the blowout and spill on February 27, 2012. [32]
A Halliburton spokesperson told Bloomberg the company is reviewing the motion filed by BP. The two companies are involved in litigation about who caused the spill. [21]
BP has alleged that Halliburton did not provide records of the tests during the legal discovery process and later informed BP officials that data collected and used in testing was thrown out. [17] Halliburton has rejected BP’s claims that the cement formula used for drilling operation was flawed. [17] BP also said Halliburton “has, at best, lost” computer data that undermine a claim that fatal channels formed in the cement because BP didn’t use enough centralizers. [10] BP asked a judge to penalise Halliburton and order a court-sponsored computer forensic team to recover the missing modelling results. A spokeswoman for Houston-based Halliburton said the company would challenge the claims in court when the case goes to trial in February. [24] Of all the potential damage from the 172-million-gallon (651-million-liter) spill in April 2010, scientists had been most concerned about how the oil spill would harm an already overfished species of large tuna. That’s because about one-fifth of the spawning habitat where the Gulf’s baby tuna were living was coated with oil, according to satellite records. [34] The oil from the biggest offshore spill in U.S. history covered about one-fifth of the habitat of the Gulf’s recently hatched tuna, and scientists feared that could hammer the future population of the fish. [33]
The spill brought new attention to the Gulf, which is one of the hemisphere’s most diverse ecosystems, home to abundant wildlife and natural resources. It also is home to thousands of oil and gas platforms, miles of pipelines and a seasonal, low-oxygen “dead” zone caused by runoff from the Mississippi River. [35] “The oil spill showed that people and wildlife of the Gulf live in a delicate balance. [28] One possibility is the per-barrel fee that oil producers pay into the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund, Nelson’s office said. Another hurdle: Some members of Congress contend the oil spill did not cause real damage to the gulf and say any fines should go toward deficit reduction. [30]
The National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has also rejected Chevron’s request to drill a deeper well. “It said such drilling would “pose risks to the environment similar to those that occurred in the well where the spill occurred, but bigger and magnified by the greater depth.” Earlier this month, “defects” in production and management at ConocoPhillips were blamed by the China’s State Oceanic Administration (SOA) for oil spills at an oilfield that it operates in the Bohai Bay off China’s northeast coast resulted from. [27] The well had blew out in April 2010, killing 11 people and unleashing a huge oil spill. [15]

Jackie Roberts with the Environmental Defense Fund says spending the money on gulf coast restoration would create jobs in Florida. “It’s BP penalties that will actually be reinvested in ecosystem restoration in the region. [39] Supporters of gulf coast restoration point to a new Duke University study that says ever million dollars spent on restoration would create 20 jobs. [39]
To kick start restoration the U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing 50 million dollars to restore seven gulf coast river basins. Environmentalists say that’s a good start and gives them hope strategies set forth in the task force report will actually be funded and implemented. [40] Six months after the event, President Obama established the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Task Force, committing the country to a full restoration of the Gulf region. It also followed a decades-long decline of the Gulf ecosystem. [36]
Part of a $50 million Gulf Coast restoration initiative by the Obama administration is designed to improve water quality in the Escambia River and Pensacola Bay estuary. [29]
The New Orleans-based Gulf Restoration Network criticized the task force’s report for lacking details, but said the region needs “a major investment from the nation,” primarily through the Clean Water Act fines. [37] The U.S. Department of Agriculture pledged the money to reduce runoff, improve water quality and increase wildlife habitat on agricultural lands in seven river basins that drain into the Gulf, including the San Antonio River in Texas. “This initiative will be a powerful demonstration that the Gulf of Mexico strategy will not be another report on a shelf,” said Harris Sherman, undersecretary for natural resources and environment at the Agriculture Department. [37] The advocacy group also called on federal agencies and others to follow the Agriculture Department’s lead by funding specific projects that advance the task force’s goals. The project, called the Gulf of Mexico initiative, provides financial aid to farmers and ranchers who alter their management practices to conserve water and protect habitat. [37] “As a result of this task force, we have five states and the federal government, finally recognizing with unanimity, that the Gulf of Mexico is extremely important for the entire United States. [36]
The federal government on Monday committed $50 million to jump start a sweeping new road map for restoring the Gulf of Mexico after decades of environmental abuse. [37]

Halliburton claimed BP failed to inform it of several formations in an effort to save money by preventing costly changes to the well design. This is only the latest in a long list of legal steps since the April 2010 blowout. [32]

[3] In October, Anadarko Petroleum Corp ( APC.N ), which owned 25 percent of the well, agreed to pay BP $4 billion toward clean-up costs and victims compensation. [8]
A spokeswoman, Beverly Blohm Stafford, said the Houston -based company is reviewing BP’s filing. “We believe that the conclusion that BP is asking the court to draw is without merit and we look forward to contesting their motion in court,” she said. [13] A spokesman for BP said in September that the company agreed with report’s conclusion. [22]
The plan shows how to channel the fines that BP must pay into environmental restoration and other programs that will benefit the Gulf for years to come. [28] The penalty must be investment to secure our future, so send the BP fines back for Gulf restoration.” [28] In July of 2011 Florida Senators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio, along with seven others from the five Gulf States, introduced the RESTORE Act, which dedicates 80 percent of the penalties that BP and other responsible parties must pay to Gulf restoration. The task force, established last year by President Barack Obama, calls for improved protection of marine habitats, improved water quality and more monitoring of Gulf species, among other goals. Another priority will be to rebuild the rapidly disappearing wetlands of the Mississippi Delta. [35] In addition to the 200 million gallons of spilled oil that seeped into the Gulf, hundreds of thousands of gallons of chemical dispersant went into the water. [18] The Gulf of Mexico provides 75 percent of the nations seafood, 54 percent of oil and gas come from the gulf. [40]
Tuna less than a year old are most vulnerable to pollution. An analysis by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, using two different projections from computer models, says that at most, such a spill probably would result in a 4 percent reduction in future spawning of the fish, but probably far less. [34] The new initiative will focus up to $50 million over three years in conservation assistance to farmers and ranchers in priority areas along seven major rivers that drain to the Gulf. [29] ‘We are all dedicated to making sure that the treasures we grew up with are still around for future generations,’ said U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, a New Orleans native who chaired the task force. [29]
Under the testing, the Halliburton worker said, the cement mix broke down and seemed thin. [1] The worlds second-largest oilfields services provider also accused BP of fraud and defamation in the investigation. [4]

Restore America Plan Taking Oil Spill Action, Maritime Lien
Executive Summary – You will see links to three sections. Definitions – There are some things many of you will not understand and why should you not being lawyers.
Maritime Lien – A maritime lien is a remedy in law to seize assets fast for damages pertaining to seagoing vessels or offenses at sea. The offense should have occurred at sea or concerning a vessel. BP and the oil spill is relevant to a maritime lien because the oil spill took place at sea. There are damaged persons and damaged property. The blame is directly attributable to BP even acknowledged by them. These liens allow fast execution to seize property before the vessels sails away to ports unknown.
The Crown – BP is a British Corp and thus the crown has legal title to it. The Crown also has other disguised ownership positions in BP, thus liability.
War – This is being regarded as an act of war. Think about it. This is a chemical weapons attack to destroy our land, water and animal life plus the health and safety of the people. BP committed wrongful acts and then some.
Lis Pendens – This is an official notice filed in some jurisdiction(s) stating that a claim has been filed. The Lis Pendens is to protect the plaintiffs interest in the property in the event they prevail in the action. It clouds the title to the property preventing the defendant from selling the property since they cannot provide clear title with a Lis Pendens on file. This was done against all of the BP assets worldwide and the Crown of England for allowing its franchised agent (BP) to invade, attack, chemically poison and terrorize the sovereign people of the United States and their property. You need to read the document.
Quad Trillion – A quad trillion is 1000 trillion dollars. This claim is for ten quad trillion. This is what the number looks like: 10,000,000,000,000,000.
Where Served – International Court of Justice, Hague, Netherlands, Her Majesty’s Treasury in London, Bank of International Settlements Basel Switzerland, International Chamber of Commerce in Paris France.
What to Do – The evil empires will try to laugh this off and sweep it under the rug. The idea is to not let them do this. Part of the document says that Obama and the USA have forfeited their rights to be in control because they did nothing thus allowing damages to continue and worse threatening lives and property around the world.

Keep the pressure on. Let the Queen understand the stupidity of allowing Obama to run the colonies. Let her pay. Money collected in such a manner would normally go to a fund and then damaged and injured parties would file claims to an independent claims review entity, they’d be reviewed, and if approved the funds would be disbursed. This is a long ways off.

BP Admits Using Genetically Modified Bacteria During Oil Disaster
Something very sinister has been going on in the Gulf of Mexico. BP has been trying to cover it up from the United States media. Everyone knows BP really screwed up when one of their rigs started spewing oil, and they couldn’t cap it. Thousands and thousands of gallons of oil were pumped directly into the Gulf of Mexico’s waters. They were looking for a solution for many weeks, and they even started asking people that came up with many bizarre ideas to fix the problem. At one point someone even mentioned throwing hay into the Gulf and then scooping out the oil soaked hay in an attempt to clean. Obviously none of these methods were used because they might do more harm then good. So what did BP do? They got rid of their CEO, and got a new CEO Bob Dudley. BPs bright idea to combat this oil problem was to release genetically altered bacteria, that was given a better instruction set to eat more oil. Bacteria exists all over the globe that eats hydrocarbons like oil, methane, and benzene. What scientists have done was harvest some of this bacteria, and modify the DNA code so that it is better “programmed” to eat oil, and lots of it. They were then released throughout the Gulf of Mexico, so that this bacteria could go to work. What if this bacteria replicates out of control? What is its affects on sea life or human life? When we play God like this we can never be sure of the repercussions. Here is the scientific name for the bacteria that had its DNA altered…
- Pseudomonas alcaligenes – Can degrade hydrocarbons like benzene, and methane.
- Alcanivorax borkumensis – A bacteria that can degrade, or eat, oil hydrocarbons specifically.
- Oleispirea Antarctica – Probably the most rare, and unpredictable of the hydrocarbon thriving bacteria. This is only found in Rod Bay, and the Ross Sea in Antarctica. This one because of its rarity, could mutate, or do something very unpredictable.
- Oceaniserpentilla Haliotis – This is another rare hydro carbon degrading bacteria that can only be found in the Tasman Sea between New Zealand and Australia. This also has the potential to do unpredictable things.
These are the bacteria that BP and their scientists are playing God with. They have altered there DNA make up even further so that they can eat more oil, and stay away from methane and benzene. Do you think this is wise? What if this bacteria slipped through the cracks and started chomping up our oil reserves? The potential of this thing doing something unpredictable is very high. This is simply something that could exponentially grow out of control. It could even create new airborne diseases and viruses that infect humans and other biological life. I have found a video of BP admitting to this on the BBC. I live in Texas. I could not access the video because it says “Not Available for your Area”. Is this because I am close to ground zero? UPDATE: Hundreds of baby dolphins have washed up on the shore of Alabama and Mississippi. Was this a direct result of the BP tampering with these bacteria so that they could degrade this oil? It is the first breeding season since the spill, and dolphins are very smart animals. Why is this happening? No one knows. All across the globe there has been very strange animal deaths and sea creatures washing up for no reason. This dolphin situation is one of those sad stories. While the global elite construct underground bunkers, eat organic and hoard seeds in Arctic vaults; the global poor are being slowly starved thanks to high commodity prices and poisoned with genetically modified (GMO) food.
Austerity measures aimed largely at the poor are being imposed on all the nations of the world. Weather events grow more deadly and brushfire wars more frequent. An AK-47 can be obtained for $49 in the markets of West Africa. The depopulation campaign of the inbred Illuminati bankers is accelerating.
In 1957 President Dwight Eisenhower, who later warned of a “military-industrial complex”, commissioned a panel of scientists to study the issue of overpopulation. The scientists put forth Alternatives I, II and III, advocating both the release of deadly viruses and perpetual warfare as means to decrease world population.
The first supposition dovetailed nicely with the pharmaceutical interests of the Rockefellers. According to Nexus magazine, the Rockefellers own one-half of the US pharmaceutical industry, which would reap billions developing medicines to “battle” the deadly viruses about to be released.
In 1969 the Senate Church Committee discovered that the US Defense Department (DOD) had requested a budget of tens of millions of taxpayer dollars for a program to speed development of new viruses which target and destroy the human immune system.
DOD officials testified before Congress that they planned to produce, “a synthetic biological agent, an agent that does not naturally exist and for which no natural immunity could be acquired…Most important is that it might be refractory to the immunological and therapeutic processes upon which we depend to maintain our relative freedom from infectious disease.” House Bill 5090 authorized the funds and MK-NAOMI was carried out at Fort Detrick, Maryland.
Out of this research came the AIDS virus which was targeted at “undesirable elements” of the population. The first AIDS viruses were administered through a massive smallpox vaccine campaign in central and southern Africa by the World Health Organization in 1977. A year later ads appeared in major US newspapers soliciting “promiscuous gay male volunteers” to take part in a Hepatitis B vaccine study. [1]
The program targeted male homosexuals age 20-40 in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis and San Francisco. It was administered by the US Centers for Disease Control which, under its earlier incarnation as the US Public Health Department in Atlanta, oversaw the Tuskegee syphilis experiments on African American males. The mysterious Legionnaire’s Disease occurs often in San Francisco and the CIA’s MK-ULTRA mind control bad acid program was based there.
The intellectual force behind the introduction of AIDS was the Bilderberger Group, which became fixated on population control after WWII. Author Cooper says the Policy Committee of the Bilderbergers gave orders to DOD to introduce the AIDS virus.
The Bilderbergers are close to the Club of Rome, which was founded on a Rockefeller estate near Bellagio, Italy and is backed by the same European Black Nobility who frequent Bilderberger meetings. A 1968 study by the Club of Rome advocated lowering the birth rate and increasing the death rate. Club founder Dr. Aurelio Peccei made a top-secret recommendation to introduce a microbe that would attack the auto-immune system, then develop a vaccine as a prophylactic for the global elite. [3]
One month after the 1968 Club of Rome meeting Paul Ehrlich published The Population Bomb. The book hints at a draconian depopulation plan in the works. On page seventeen Ehrlich writes, “The problem could have been avoided by population control…so that a ‘death rate solution’ did not have to occur.”
A year later MK-NAOMI was born. Peccei himself authored the Club of Rome’s much-touted Global 2000 report, which President Jimmy Carter pushed on his BCCI shakedown cruise of Africa. Peccei wrote in the report, “Man is now vested with unprecedented, tremendous responsibilities and thrown into the role of moderator of life on the planet- including his own”.
The Bilderbergers were behind the Haig-Kissinger Depopulation Policy, a driving force at the State Department and administered by the National Security Council. Pressure is applied to Third World countries to reduce their populations.
Those that do not comply see their US aid withheld or are subject to Pink Plan low-intensity war that targets civilians, especially women of child-bearing age. In Africa famine and brush-fire wars are encouraged.
AK-47 rifles can be bought at West African markets for under $50. The same is true in the markets of Peshawar, Pakistan. In 1975, a year after attending a Club of Rome conference on the topic, Secretary of State Kissinger founded the Office of Population Affairs (OPA).
Latin American OPA case officer Thomas Ferguson spilled the beans on OPA’s agenda when he stated, “There is a single theme behind all our work; we must reduce population levels.
Either they do it our way, through nice clean methods or they will get the kind of mess that we have in El Salvador, or in Iran, or in Beirut…Once population is out of control it requires authoritarian government, even fascism, to reduce it…The professionals aren’t interested in reducing population for humanitarian reasons…Civil wars are somewhat drawn-out ways to reduce population. The quickest way to reduce population is through famine like in Africa.
We go into a country and say, here is your goddamn development plan. Throw it out the window. Start looking at your population…if you don’t …then you’ll have an El Salvador or an Iran, or worse, a Cambodia”. [4]
Ferguson said of El Salvador, “To accomplish what the State Department deems adequate population control, the civil war (run by CIA) would have to be greatly expanded.
You have to pull all the males into fighting and kill significant numbers of fertile, child-bearing age females. You are killing a small number of males and not enough fertile females to do the job…If the war went on 30-40 years, you might accomplish something. Unfortunately, we don’t have too many instances of this to study”.
Report from Iron Mountain
In 1961 Kennedy Administration officials McGeorge Bundy, Robert McNamara and Dean Rusk, all CFR and Bilderberger members, led a study group which looked into “the problem of peace”. The group met at Iron Mountain, a huge underground corporate nuclear shelter near Hudson, New York, where CFR think tank The Hudson Institute is located.
The bunker contains redundant offices in case of nuclear attack for Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch/Shell and JP Morgan Chase. [5] A copy of the group discussions, known asReport from Iron Mountain, was leaked by a participant and published in 1967 by Dial Press.
The report’s authors saw war as necessary and desirable stating “War itself is the basic social system, within which other secondary modes of social organization conflict or conspire. (War is) the principal organizing force…the essential economic stabilizer of modern societies.”
The group worried that through “ambiguous leadership” the “ruling administrative class” might lose its ability to “rationalize a desired war”, leading to the “actual disestablishment of military institutions”.
The report goes on to say, “…the war system cannot responsibly be allowed to disappear until…we know exactly what we plan to put in its place…The possibility of war provides the sense of external necessity without which no government can long remain in power…The basic authority of a modern state over its people resides in its war powers. War has served as the last great safeguard against the elimination of necessary classes.”
Historian Howard Zinn described this conundrum when he wrote, “American capitalism needed international rivalry- and periodic war- to create an artificial community of interest between rich and poor, supplanting the genuine community of interest among the poor that showed itself in sporadic movements”.
The Iron Mountain gang was not the first to discover the virtues of war. In 1909 the trustees of the Andrew Carnegie Foundation for International Peace met to discuss pre-WWI American life. Many of the participants were members of Skull & Bones. They concluded, “There are no known means more efficient than war, assuming the objective is altering the life of an entire people…How do we involve the United States in a war?”
The Report from Iron Mountain goes on to propose a proper role for those of the lower classes, crediting military institutions with providing “antisocial elements with an acceptable role in the social structure.
The younger and more dangerous of these hostile social groupings have been kept under control by the Selective Service System…A possible surrogate for the control of potential enemies of society is the reintroduction, in some form consistent with modern technology and political process, of slavery…The development of a sophisticated form of slavery may be an absolute prerequisite for social control in a world at peace.”
The Iron Mountain goons, though thrilled by the idea of slavery, listed as other socioeconomic substitutions for war: a comprehensive social welfare program, a giant open-ended space program aimed at unreachable targets, a permanent arms inspection regime, an omnipresent global police and peacekeeping force, massive global environmental pollution which would require a large labor pool to clean up, socially-oriented blood sports and a comprehensive eugenics program. [6]
The Iraqi genocide fulfilled the dreams of the Club of Rome Zero Population Growth maniacs, while also providing a testing ground for two of the war substitutes proposed by the Iron Mountain fascists: an arms inspection regime and UN peacekeepers. Both concepts gained traction in the international community thanks to the Gulf War.
Let the Iraqi Genocide Begin
Estimates of Iraqi casualties during the Gulf War are sobering. Some organizations like Greenpeace put the death toll at near one million people. It was a war in which the media was denied access on a scale never before seen, so casualty figures vary greatly.
According to Tony Murphy, a researcher at the International War Crimes Tribunal, the US attack on Iraq killed 125,000 civilians, while destroying 676 schools, 38 hospitals, 8 major hydroelectric dams, 11 power plants, 119 power substations and half the country’s telephone lines. The attacks occurred mostly at night when people were most vulnerable.
In the months following the war the death rate of Iraqi children under five tripled. Thirty-eight percent of these deaths were caused by diarrhea. [7] Victor Filatov, a Russian journalist reporting for Sovetskaya Rossiya from post-war Baghdad wrote, “What further bloodshed do these barbarians of the 20th century need? I thought the Americans had changed since Vietnam…but no, they never change. They remain true to themselves.”
According to former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark, the US was found guilty of nineteen war crimes against Iraq before the International War Crimes Tribunal. The US dropped 88,000 tons of bombs on Iraq during the Gulf War and has rained down countless more bombs since.
Many bombs were tipped with armor piercing depleted uranium (DU) warheads, which may account for chronic Iraqi health problems. Dr. Siegwart-Horst Gunther, a German physician who came to Iraq to help its people, became gravely ill when he handled just one cigar-sized fragment from a DU warhead. Dr. Gunther measured the tiny object’s radioactivity to be 11 microSv per hour, whereas an acceptable exposure is no more than 300 microSv per year. [8] Three hundred tons of DU ammunition was deployed during the war.
Many believe DU is responsible for Gulf War Syndrome, which has killed and permanently injured many US soldiers who fought in the Persian Gulf theater. Since 2000, nearly 11,000 US Gulf War veterans have died from Gulf War Syndrome, while the Pentagon continues to cover up this travesty.
Satanism & Psychotronic Warfare
The US also tested numerous top-secret high-tech weapons systems in the Gulf theatre, while utilizing some old low-frequency favorites. When Iraqi ground forces surrendered, many of them were in a state of delirium and lethargy that could have been induced by extremely low-frequency radio waves, which the US used as a weapon as early as the Vietnam conflict.
Yale University and CIA psychiatrist Dr. Jose Delgado studied mind control for the Company during the 1950’s as part of the MK-ULTRA program. Delgado determined, “Physical control of many brain functions is a demonstrated fact…it is even possible to create and follow intentions…By electronic stimulation of specific cerebral structures, movements can be induced by radio command…by remote control.”
According to a military document written by Colonel Paul Valley and Major Michael Aquino titled From PSYOP to Mindwar: The Psychology of Victory, the US Army used an operational weapons system “to map the minds of neutral and enemy individuals and then to change them in accordance with US national interests”.
The technique was used to secure the surrender of 29,276 armed Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army soldiers in 1967 and 1968. The US Navy was also heavily involved in “psychotronic” research. [9] Many US soldiers who served near the DMZ that divided North and South Vietnam claimed to see UFOs on a regular basis. The Pentagon Papers revealed that an electronic barrier was placed along the DMZ by the secretive JASON Society.
Major Michael Aquino was an Army psyops specialist in Vietnam, where his unit specialized in drug-inducement, brainwashing, virus injection, brain implants, hypnosis, and use of electromagnetic fields and extremely low-frequency radio waves. After Vietnam, Aquino moved to San Francisco and founded the Temple of Set.
Set is the ancient Egyptian name for Lucifer. Aquino was now a senior US Military Intelligence official. [10] He’d been given a Top Secret security clearance on June, 9, 1981. Less than a month later an Army intelligence memo revealed that Aquino’s Temple of Set was an off-shoot of Anton La Vey’s Church of Satan, also headquartered in San Francisco. Two other Set members were Willie Browning and Dennis Mann. Both were Army Intelligence officers.
The Temple of Set was obsessed with military matters and political fascism. It was especially preoccupied with the Nazi Order of the Trapezoid. Aquino’s “official” job was history professor at Golden Gate College. The Temple recruited the same Hells Angels who Billy Mellon Hitchcock had used to dole out his bad CIA acid.
Its members frequented prostitutes where they engaged in all manner of sadomasochistic activities. [11] Director of Army Counter-Intelligence Donald Press revealed that Dennis Mann was assigned to the 306 PSYOPS Battalion and that Aquino was assigned to a top secret program known as Presidio.
Presidio was also the name of a spooky US Army base in what is now the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which Mikhail Gorbachev reportedly frequented as the Soviet Union was falling apart.
Was Aquino part of an operation to “map the mind” of the Soviet Union’s last leader and induce him into proposing both glasnost and perestroika, the two free market policies that ultimately led to the Soviet Union’s demise? Remember the curious mark which suddenly appeared on Gorbachev’s forehead? Was he implanted with some sort of microchip mind-control device to make him think “in accordance with US national interests”?
Such Orwellian technology is marketed on a regular basis throughout the world. International Healthline Corporation and others sell microchip implants in the US, Russia and Europe. The Humane Society has adopted a policy of micro-chipping all stray pets. The State of Hawaii requires that all pets be micro-chipped.
Six thousand people in Sweden have accepted a microchip in their hand, which they use for all purchases. Trials are also underway in Japan. In July 2002, National Public Radio reported a similar trial beginning in Seattle. Later in 2002, after a rash of suspicious abductions of young girls, BBC reported that a British company plans to implant children with microchips so that their parents can monitor their whereabouts.
Dr. Carl Sanders, a highly acclaimed electronics engineer, revealed that a microchip project he launched to help people with severed spinal cords was taken over by the Bill Colby’s Operation Phoenix in a series of meetings organized by Henry Kissinger.
Sanders says the optimal spot for a microchip implant is just below the hairline on a person’s forehead, since the device can be recharged by changes in body temperatures, which are most pronounced there. Interestingly, this is the location of the pineal gland or Third Eye.
The 1986 Emigration Control Act grants the President the power to mandate any kind of ID he deems necessary. [12] Researchers at Southern California have developed a chip which mimics the hippocampus, the part of the brain that deals with memory. Pentagon officials are interested in using it in experiments to create a “super-soldier”. [13] Another microchip called Braingate is being implanted in paralyzed people. It allows them to control their environment by simply thinking. [14]
In Iraq, psychological warfare gave way to slow genocide. According to UNICEF, as of late 2001, 1.5 million Iraqi children had died as a result of sanctions, while one child in ten died before their first birthday.
Thalassemia, anemia and diarrhea were the biggest killers and could have been prevented were it not for a chronic shortage of blood and medicine in Iraq due to the sanctions. UN Committee 661 served as arbiter of what constituted a “dual use” item and therefore banned for import into Iraq. As of 2001, over 1,600 Iraqi contracts with Western companies for medical equipment had been blocked by 661. [15]
The Gulf War decimated Iraq’s sewer and water treatment systems. Iraqis were forced to drink polluted water, leading to numerous health problems. Iraq was not allowed to import chlorine to clean the water since 661 deemed it a potential chemical weapon.
Electrical power was rationed in three-hour daily increments per household since the Iraqi government couldn’t get the parts it needed to fix its power plants after the US bombed its entire power grid. With the devaluation of the Iraqi dinar and the ban on the export of 2.4 million barrels of oil per day, the average Iraqi lived on $2.50 a month- enough to buy a pair of shoes. The only Iraqis not affected were the wealthy elite, who had long ago stashed their savings overseas in US dollars.
UNICEF estimates that 28% of Iraqi children no longer went to school. Before the war almost all children attended. Often families could only afford to send one child to school because of the cost of simple things like backpacks, shoes and notebooks.
Rafah Salam Aziz, Director of Mansour Children’s Hospital, said parents were often forced to make similar decisions about their children’s lives. Aziz said, “Many times it’s easier for a family to let a baby die rather than let the whole family go hungry and get sick.”[16]
In 1996 Clinton Defense Secretary William Perry announced a new military buildup in the Persian Gulf. Soon cruise missiles were again raining down on Baghdad. Many nations now grew weary of both US bombing and the sanctions regime, which was brutalizing the Iraqi people while strengthening the grip of Saddam Hussein.
Russian President Boris Yeltsin, whose country signed a deal with Iraq to rebuild its shattered oil sector, said he was disturbed at the use of “extreme and radical force against the Arab world”. The Russian opposition offered a more scalding appraisal. Alexander Lebed stating angrily, “The US is like a strong master who spits on everybody.”[17]
Turkey, Jordan and Syria all expressed unease over the new round of bombing. Even the Saudis, where Islamic fundamentalism was on the rise and two major bombings had occurred at US bases, now refused to allow the US to use its bases to bomb Iraq. Many countries, including France, began openly flaunting the UN embargo against Iraq in the late 1990’s.
Dennis Halliday, former Assistant Secretary of the UN who initially headed the UN Humanitarian Program to Iraq, resigned his post in protest. He said sanctions were demolishing the very class of Iraqi people who wanted to create a better government in the country. He was scornful of the UN Oil for Food Program under which the US received 70% of Iraqi oil. Halliday stated plainly, “We are guilty of committing genocide, through the Security Council, against Iraq.”[18]
Halliday’s 1998 successor was Hans Van Sponeck, who watched as the UN unfurled the UNSCOM arms inspection regime, paid for by Iraqi oil sales. US inspector Scott Ritter confirmed Iraqi suspicions that UNSCOM was gathering intelligence for CIA and Mossad.
UNSCOM was just the latest CIA tool. In 1996 the Iraqi government claimed international relief agencies, including the World Food Program, which claimed to be helping the Kurds, were actually CIA operatives attempting to destabilize the country.
In fact the CIA had spent more than $20 million in its support of the Iraqi National Congress, led by long-time CIA surrogate Jalal Talibani’s PKK Kurdish faction. [19] In January 1997 Iraq uncovered two Mossad spy rings in one month following the attempted assassination of Saddam Hussein’s son. [20] Hans Van Sponeck had seen enough. He too resigned in protest.
In early 1999 it was revealed that the US had used UNSCOM to plant electronic bugging devices in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. Arms inspector Scott Ritter said the CIA was using UNSCOM to “provoke a crisis”.
In December 1998 UNSCOM, faced with the embarrassing accusations of espionage, pulled out of Iraq. On December 15th the US launched a new round of bombing. Ritter says intelligence gathered by UNSCOM was used for targeting. UNSCOM spokesman David Kay resurfaced in 2003 calling for a US invasion of Iraq. He now worked for SAIC, which landed numerous Pentagon contracts to rebuild Iraq.
